Yale Home Review: The Main Smart Locks
What Does the Yale Assure Lock 2 Offer?
The Assure Lock 2 is Yale’s main smart deadbolt family, with keyed and key-free versions and a keypad or touchscreen. As of October 2026, the homepage lists the Keypad with Bluetooth at $169.99, the Key-Free Touchscreen with Bluetooth at $189.99, the Key-Free Keypad with Wi-Fi at $259.99 and the Touchscreen with Wi-Fi at $279.99. The Assure Lock 2 Touch page says the lock can hold up to 250 entry codes in the Yale Access app.
Wi-Fi models need a 2.4GHz network and offer remote access. Auto-Lock uses DoorSense to lock the door once it is closed, and Auto-Unlock is optional. Wi-Fi models work with Alexa, Google and Siri, while Bluetooth models only work with Apple Home, according to Yale Home.
Is There a Fingerprint or Apple Home Key Model?
Yes. The Assure Lock 2 Touch adds a fingerprint reader. Yale says it has 99% fingerprint accuracy, recognizes a print in under 0.5 seconds and stores fingerprints on the lock. The homepage lists the Touch Key Free with Wi-Fi at $299.99. For iPhone and Apple Watch users, the Assure Lock 2 Plus with Wi-Fi and Apple Home Keys costs $309.99.

That is what it is designed for. The Yale Approach Lock with Wi-Fi costs $139.99 and, according to Yale Home, installs on the inside of your door without replacing your existing deadbolt, so you keep your keys. It fits most single cylinder deadbolts, needs only a screwdriver and runs on 4 AA batteries (included). It adds Auto-Lock, optional Auto-Unlock, unlimited virtual keys and Alexa and Google Assistant support, and pairs with the Yale Keypad for code entry.
What About Matter and the Yale Code Keypad Lock?
The Yale Smart Lock with Matter costs $189.99 in Snow, Matte Black and Ash. It uses Matter over Thread and opens with a keypad code, the Google Home app or the included key. Remote access needs a Matter-enabled hub, and Yale suggests placing the Thread border router within 50 feet of the lock.
