Savings Hacks & Tips

MEC Membership: Lifetime Benefits for $5

The MEC Membership is a distinctive lifetime program requiring a one-time fee of $5. Unlike traditional point-based loyalty schemes, this membership gives you access to exclusive member pricing on select products, company voting rights, and occasional product discounts.

These perks add up for frequent MEC shoppers, delivering long-term value beyond seasonal sales. Considering the minimal membership fee, this program is a smart choice for outdoor enthusiasts planning ongoing purchases (MEC Membership details).

Seasonal Sales & Clearance Events

MEC runs annual seasonal sales including Black Friday and Cyber Monday events, holiday promotions, and clearance sales scattered throughout the year. Discounts during these periods often reach significant levels on equipment, apparel, and accessories.

Regularly monitoring MEC’s official sales page will help you catch these deals early. Combining membership and nonprofit perks with seasonal sales is a savvy way to maximize savings (MEC Seasonal Sales).

Price Match Guarantee for Canadian Products

To protect your budget, MEC offers a price match guarantee on identical items sold by Canadian competitors within 30 days of your purchase. Certain exclusions apply, such as clearance and marketplace items.

If you find a lower competitor price, contact MEC customer service to request a price adjustment. This policy ensures competitive pricing on your outdoor gear buy (MEC Price Match Policy).

Free Shipping for Members Over $75 Order

MEC members benefit from free standard shipping on orders above $75. For non-members, standard delivery costs $8.50 with an estimated arrival of 3 to 7 business days. Express shipping is available for $14.50, delivering within 2 to 3 business days. Shipping is available exclusively within Canada.

Bulk purchasing or combining orders to meet the free shipping threshold is a practical way to save on delivery costs (MEC Shipping Policy).

What To Do If Your Discount Code Doesn't Work?

Check Code Eligibility and Expiration

MEC’s discounts are mostly seasonal and applied automatically, so first verify that the promotion period is active and that your cart contains qualifying products. Some items may be excluded from certain deals.

Verify Account Status and Membership Requirements

Ensure you are logged in with the proper account status, such as MEC Membership or nonprofit verification. These statuses unlock specific discounts and member benefits like free shipping and exclusive pricing.

Contact MEC Customer Support for Assistance

If discounts don’t apply as expected or codes fail, reach out to MEC’s customer service team. They can clarify eligibility criteria, resolve technical issues, or help manually adjust prices if you qualify.
