## What Is Trident Fly Fishing and Who Is It For?

Trident Fly Fishing sells online and runs a brick-and-mortar store on Riverside Street in Portland, Maine, according to its [About Us page](https://www.tridentflyfishing.com/pages/about-us). The page is signed by founder Ben Freeman, who describes the team as gear junkies and says the sales staff are anglers too.

Trident Fly Fishing suits:

- **Anglers comparing rods** from many brands, since its fly rod section lists Redington, Echo, Scott, Hardy, Sage and Winston models side by side.
- **Buyers who want to try before they commit**, because the Castability Guarantee gives 7 days on the water with qualifying full-priced rods.
- **Price-conscious shoppers** who like a price match: the Low-Price Guarantee covers lower published prices on identical in-stock items.
- **Anglers outside the US**, since Trident says it ships to most countries worldwide.

## Trident Fly Fishing Review: Gear, Rod Trial and Rewards

### What Gear Does Trident Fly Fishing Sell?

Trident’s homepage lists fly rods from G. Loomis, Sage and Echo, including spey and switch rods, reels from Galvan and others, flies from Umpqua, Enrico Puglisi and Flymen, and waders such as the Simms G3 Pro from $650. Pre-owned rods and reels are listed too. Beginners can start with the Echo Traverse Fly Rod Kit at $349.99, which bundles a rod, a spooled ECHO ION reel, line, leader and case.

### How Does the Castability Guarantee Work?

According to the [Castability Guarantee page](https://www.tridentflyfishing.com/pages/castability-guarantee), you can take up to 7 days to put a qualifying full-priced fly rod through its paces on the water, then return it within 7 days, no questions asked, for a full refund. Most new 3-4 piece graphite or fiberglass rods qualify. Sale, used, 1-piece, 2-piece, bamboo, vintage and special order rods do not, and there is a limit of 3 rods per household per calendar year. Choose economy shipping, because expedited shipping, usually about $40, is not refunded.

### How Does the Low-Price Guarantee Work?

Trident’s [price-match page](https://tridentflyfishing.com/pages/price-match) says that if you find an identical product in stock at a lower published price, it will match it, and that the comparison includes coupons, rod and reel combos, shipping and tax. Place your order first, then email or call within 24 hours with your order number and a link to the lower price. Exclusions include used and refurbished items, eBay auctions, prices outside the US, items priced lower than 40% off MSRP, flies and some brands.

### What Is Trident Rewards?

[Trident Rewards](https://www.tridentflyfishing.com/pages/rewards) lets you earn points on qualifying purchases and turn them into discount coupons at checkout. You can earn without an account but need one to redeem. Points have no cash value and expire after 6 months of inactivity; the page we read does not state the earning rate.

## Trident Fly Fishing Prices and Shipping Costs in 2026

Trident does not charge a membership fee on the pages we read, and its prices depend on the brand and model. Its [fly rod section](https://www.tridentflyfishing.com/collections/fly-rods) lists models across a wide range, as of October 2026.

| Fly rod | Listed price |
| --- | --- |
| Redington Classic Trout Fly Rod | $199.99 |
| Echo Carbon XL Fly Rod | $229.99 (regular $289.99) |
| Echo Traverse Fly Rod Kit (rod, reel, line, case) | $349.99 |
| Atlas Signature 9ft 8wt Fly Rod | $499.99 |

Prices as listed on Trident Fly Fishing’s fly rod and product pages, October 28, 2026, in US dollars.

### How Much Is Shipping at Trident Fly Fishing?

According to the [shipping policy](https://www.tridentflyfishing.com/pages/shipping-policies), economy shipping is free for most orders over $49 and typically arrives in about one week. Oversized items do not qualify for free shipping, and expedited rates are calculated at checkout. Orders placed early in the day often ship the same business day; otherwise they ship the next business day. Economy needs an address that receives USPS mail, so PO Box and APO/FPO orders need an expedited option. Trident says it ships to most countries worldwide.
